QBE secures industry-first award for mental health support
Mental Health First Aid Australia has given QBE “advanced workplace” status for its commitment to wellbeing programs, making it the first financial services institution to achieve the ranking.
The workplace researcher says the insurer has a “continuous and sustained commitment to promoting mental wellbeing within the organisation and among key partners”, having implemented at least 12 programs in line with this goal.
Among the programs is the expansion of a mental health first aid officer support network across QBE’s Australia and New Zealand operations.
QBE Australia Pacific chief people officer Shiona Watson says the status reflects efforts to create a workplace where staff “feel supported, valued and empowered to prioritise their mental health.”
“Investing in mental health enhances employee satisfaction and productivity as well as contributes towards a positive and resilient workplace,” she said.
“This recognition highlights the commitment of our work health and safety team and our mental health first aid officers towards the wellbeing of our people.”
