QBE Insurance will contribute $62,923 to a fundraiser for drought-affected farmers.

The figure includes $10,000 to match the amount QBE-sponsored AFL team Sydney Swans pledged for Rural Aid’s Buy A Bale campaign.

The rest comes from matching the SCG Trust’s $1 donation for every attendee at Saturday’s Swans-Hawthorn game and the Sydney Roosters-Brisbane Broncos NRL match.

“We see the devastating impact this has on our customers and partners both through QBE and our Elders Insurance network, and just how hard these communities are doing it at the moment,” QBE Australia and New Zealand CEO Vivek Bhatia said.

“As insurers, it’s our job to support the communities in which we operate, but we’re also part of those communities, and that’s why we want to be part of the effort to help.”
