‘Phishing season’ speech wins Ron Shorter Award
Lander & Rogers Solicitor Rose Cavanagh has won the Australian Insurance Law Association Ron Shorter Award for public speaking with a presentation titled “It’s phishing season”.
Ms Cavanagh was awarded $1000 and a crystal trophy, and presented at the World Insurance Congress Australia event in Melbourne on Thursday.
The public speaking competition is open to young professionals aged 35 and under or with less than five years’ experience in the industry.
Second place was taken out by Sally Roxburgh for her presentation on “Future of insurance: attracting a more diverse talent pool for an evolving industry”, receiving $500.
Third place and a $250 prize went to Georgia Johnson who presented on “Concussions in contact sport”.
The three finalists were selected following public speaking training and a semi-final with 25 other industry young professionals.
The judging panel consisted of Federal Court Justice Elizabeth Anne Cheeseman, Susan Donaldson and Duncan Ramsay.
