Peter Harmer appointed Lawcover Chairman

Former IAG CEO Peter Harmer has been appointed Chairman of the Lawcover Group of companies effective from the end of next month.

Lawcover Insurance provides professional indemnity cover to practices in NSW, NT and the ACT and a number of national law firms. It is an independent subsidiary of the Law Society of New South Wales.

“Peter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Lawcover, both as a senior executive and a non-executive director,” CEO Kerrie Lalich said. “He is well placed to help us build on the substantial achievements of retiring Chair Duncan West, as we continue our work on behalf of the legal profession.”

Mr Harmer is also due to join the board of AUB Group at the end of this month and has been appointed an independent non-executive director at Nib Holdings. He also sits on the Commonwealth Bank board.

Previously he has held roles including CEO of Aon UK and Aon Australia Risk Services (APAC) and was Chairman of Aon Re Australia and the London Market Reform Group

Mr Harmer says he has admired Lawcover as a focused, highly professional business serving the risk management and insurance needs of its customers.
