Peberdy spruiks non-profit creds

Outgoing Ansvar Insurance CEO John Peberdy says he remains “open” to board offers but is focused on taking a short break from the industry.

As reported last week by insuranceNEWS.com.au, Mr Peberdy will retire as CEO of Ansvar on July 30 after 12 years in the top job.

His departure was the subject of speculation in the weeks leading up to his department, and he admits the decision to leave the Anglican Church-owned company was floated for at least six months.

“I’ve been thinking about (my career) for six to 12 months,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “It’s probably been there for a while.”

He says he is interested in using his experience in the non-profit sector. “I’ve been aware of this very American concept of people in executive roles giving something back to the community, and its something I’m keen to pursue.”

Mr Peberdy says he is interested in the insurance and financial sectors and would consider moving to a “portfolio-style” position if the timing and role fit.

The company’s locally controlled board is looking both inside and outside the company for his replacement, and an announcement is expected within the next three months.
