Peter Smith has rejoined Queensland-based AIB Insurance Brokers, taking the role of Sales and Development Manager.

Mr Smith worked for AIB from 2002-07 before moving to OAMPS, which was sold to Arthur J Gallagher last year.

He will work across AIB’s branches in Brisbane and Maroochydore, focusing on developing sales teams, mentoring younger staff and strengthening relationships with clients and underwriters.

Client retention is extremely important in the current soft market, Mr Smith told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

He also sees opportunities for increased specialisation.

“There is not a lot of specialisation in Queensland and there are a couple of markets I have an interest in. Those clients appreciate dealing with people who can talk their language and who have knowledge about their business.”
