NZ ACC confirms new claims chief
New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) has appointed Sid Miller as GM Claims Management.
“This is an important appointment for the ACC, given the central role claims management has within the corporation,” CEO Scott Pickering said.
“Every year we handle about 1.7 million claims and spend more than $NZ2.6 billion ($2.18 billion) helping people recover from their injuries.”
Last year the ACC committed a major privacy breach when the personal details of 6700 people were sent to a client who was in dispute with the corporation.
This led to the resignations of the chairman, two directors and former CEO Ralph Stewart.
Mr Miller, from Newcastle in the UK, has been acting in his new position since November, concentrating on improving customer service.
“We are already seeing some signs of success, so I am delighted Sid is so keen to continue in the role and bring the work to fruition,” Mr Pickering said.
Mr Miller has previously held GM roles with Axa and AMP. He joined the ACC in February last year as GM people and communications, a position the corporation will now look to fill.
