NTI restoration truck almost ready to roll
National Transport Insurance’s (NTI) fundraising restoration of a historic truck is nearing completion, as the deadline for purchasing raffle tickets also approaches.
The raffle winner will take possession of the 1946 International Model K5 truck, with all proceeds going to the MND and Me Foundation, which supports research into motor neurone disease.
“The truck is now in its final stages of restoration, with just the upholstery and flatbed to go,” NTI CEO Tony Clark told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “We set ourselves a challenging deadline and the achievement thus far is a testament to the level of expertise and sense of community among our partners, premium repairers, service providers and staff.”
NTI has tracked the restoration’s progress in a series of videos on the project website, reaching an audience exceeding 150,000.
The vehicle was displayed in its more dilapidated state at the Brisbane Truck Show in May.
Mr Clark says raffle ticket sales have increased as the August 31 closing date nears.
“The support has been amazing, but we’re still hoping for that last great surge of ticket sales to raise as much money as possible,” he said.
MND and Me has special significance for NTI, with former CEO Wayne Patterson diagnosed with the disease in 2015.
Raffle finalists will be drawn on September 1 and the finished truck and winner will be revealed in King George Square in Brisbane on Friday September 15.
