NTI launches vintage truck auction to raise funds for MND charity

National Transport Insurance (NTI) will auction a restored, custom 1946 Ford “Jailbar” truck later this month to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Australia.

The auction will take place on September 23 as part of the Australian Trucking Association’s Live Industry Broadcast Event and is open to anyone over the age of 18 in the country.

NTI has been auctioning off a restored truck each year for several years, raising money in support of MND causes in memory of former CEO Wayne Patterson, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2015 and died in 2018.

“Our restoration projects allow Wayne’s legacy to live on and for NTI to give back in so many ways – be it through raising money for research, engaging with community or supporting local businesses,” CEO Tony Clark said in a statement today.

“But the story is much bigger than NTI just building a truck. The truck is a culmination of dedication, a passion project with a greater purpose.

“And in the current climate [and]we can all do with a little more sense of purpose.”

Proceeds raised from the auction will go to MND Australia for awarding the NTI Research Grant for 2021.
