Annual award-winners were announced at the sixth NT Insurance Conference in Darwin.

Michelle Johnson of Allianz was named senior sales and underwriting professional of the year, and Stewart Cox of Gallagher is senior broker professional of the year.

Alana Brown, from MGA, was presented with the young insurance professional (broker and insurer) of the year award.

The claims professional of the year is TIO’s Tim Graham, while the service provider professional of the year is Michael Buckley from M&J Builders.

More than 300 delegates attended this year’s conference, run for the first time by the Young Insurance Professionals NT committee, led by President Katie McGettigan and Vice-President John Vanarey.

Attendance at the conference was free and speakers volunteered their time, with sponsors making the event possible. The major sponsors were Gallagher, Johns Lyng Group, Allianz and TIO.

Event supporter Allan Manning told insuranceNEWS.com.au the conference was the only one of its kind in the country.

“We had 75% of the NT insurance industry attending,” he said. “The primary aim is knowledge transfer and giving the same level of training as in the major cities.”
