NT conference names award winners

Winners of the Territory Insurance Awards were announced on Friday during a gala dinner at Darwin Convention Centre.

The awards wrapped up the three-day Territory Insurance Conference, attended by 330 delegates – the largest turnout in the event’s four-year history.

Daryl Madden, CEO of conference sponsor TIO, says the awards are about encouraging excellence in the NT insurance industry.

John Vanarey from GT Insurance won the sales and underwriting professional of the year award, and TIO’s Jeroen Furstner was named claims professional of the year.

PSC Insurance Brokers’ Sarah Kempton won the broker professional of the year prize.

Service provider professional of the year was Wade Eilersen from Cunningham Lindsey, and TIO’s Chaice Evans won the young professional of the year award.

Mr Madden told insuranceNEWS.com.au a highlight of the conference was guest speaker Curtis McGrath, a former soldier who lost his legs in a bomb blast in Afghanistan before becoming a world champion para-canoeist.

Mr McGrath was the perfect fit for a conference themed around resilience, Mr Madden says.
