NRMA donates $2 million to domestic violence charity
NRMA Insurance has donated $2 million to the Full Stop Foundation, the fundraising arm of Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia.
CEO Mark Milliner says the COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the importance of having a safe home.
“We know more needs to be done to help ensure Australians feel safe in their homes, particularly women and children,” Mr Milliner said.
The donation will help the charity answer up to 8000 phone calls through its crisis counselling service and provide funds to many organisations that provide critical services across Australia.
Full Stop Foundation CEO Karen Willis said the NRMA donation comes at a critical time.
“As lockdown measures are reduced, we’re concerned that violence may escalate as offenders seek to maintain control,” she said.
