NQ insurance community raises food-relief funds

The North Queensland Charity Benefit and Trade Show, held over two days in mid-October in Townsville, raised more than $50,000 for Food Relief NQ, which distributes over 200,000 kilograms of food to many welfare agencies from Cairns down to Mackay and out to Mt Isa.

The event, held every two years, is organised by a committee of like-minded insurance industry professionals and sponsored by Underwriting Agencies of Australia (UAA), NTI, CGU and GT Insurance.

“The generosity of our industry colleagues knows no bounds,” Campbell Construction Co Broker Liaison Officer Tina Doherty said.

Sedgwick Senior Adjuster MCL Global Belinda Powell says Ms Doherty has been integral to making the event happen and thanked sponsors, insurance industry colleagues, brokers, adjusting firms, suppliers and insurers.

“I am so proud to be part of the North Queensland Insurance Charity Committee and what we’ve been able to achieve in such difficult times,” Ms Powell said on LinkedIn. “Look what we can do as a team. Bring on more events FNQ!”

The event culminated in a Gala Masquerade Ball on the Saturday night with more than 300 people in attendance.
