NIBA’s WA and Queensland winners get tickets to Gold Coast

The Queensland and WA state finalists in the Warren Tickle Memorial Award and the Broker of the Year award have been named at events in Brisbane and Perth.

They will travel to the Gold Coast in October to compete for the national awards at the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) convention on the Gold Coast in October.

The Broker of the Year award, sponsored by Zurich, will be presented to a NIBA member who is an “inspirational role model” for the broking community and has accomplished achievements in the year prior to the award and in the past.

Brisbane broker Peter Roberts, a director at Assurity, won the Queensland division of the award, which was presented by Zurich Queensland State Manager Hugh Easton.

Mr Roberts told insuranceNEWS.com.au the award came as “a great honour and a shock”.

“I accepted it on behalf of the people I work with,” he said.

Ashton George, Regional Director at EBM Insurance Brokers, is the WA finalist for the award, which was presented in Perth by Zurich WA State Manager Mike Rumac.

The Warren Tickle award, sponsored by Vero, recognises the late insurance commissioner’s lifelong drive for industry education.

Candidates must be under 35 with appropriate qualifications and experience.

Sally-Anne Townley, Manager at the Gold Coast office of Nadic Insurance Brokers, won the Queensland final, which was presented by Vero Sales Leader Pat Campbell.

The WA Warren Tickle Memorial Award finalist is Shelley Hymas, Client Director at Aon Risk Services, who was presented with her award by Vero Development Manager Mark Spencer.

The Victorian winners will be announced at the end of August.
