NIBA takes 2013 convention to Melbourne
The National Insurance Brokers Association’s (NIBA) annual convention will be held in Melbourne next year, with an intensive survey of delegates to this year’s Gold Coast event expected to help set the agenda.
It will be the first time the convention has been held in the Victorian capital, which is the second-largest centre for broking after Sydney.
The decision to take the event south in October next year was announced last week at the closing dinner for this year’s convention, which attracted around 900 delegates.
NIBA CEO Dallas Booth says he is “absolutely delighted with the positive, happy and convivial atmosphere” at the convention, which was held at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.
But he will hold back on detailed planning for next year’s event until a survey of delegates has been collated.
“We need to make sure the format is relevant to everybody attending, and ask the hard questions that will help us, ” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“We want the convention next year and into the future to remain a premier event for brokers.”
Mr Booth says delegates at this year’s convention “showed a real desire to support NIBA”.
The theme for next year’s convention will be “New Frontiers – Building Better Worlds”. NIBA VP David Wyner will again be chairman of the convention committee.
