NIBA reveals WA award winners

The 2023 National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) Broker of the Year award for WA has been won by Grace Insurance Director Frans du Plessis, while the region’s Young Broker of the Year award went to Aviso WA Insurance Brokers Account Executive Justin Purslowe.

National winners will be revealed on October 8-10 at the 2023 NIBA Convention at The Star, Gold Coast.

Mr du Plessis now competes for the QBE sponsored 2023 Broker of the Year award against NSW’s Finsura Senior Account Manager Barry Sonter, Marsh Corporate & Commercial Leader Victoria Nick Hodges, and yet-to-be revealed winners from Queensland and SA/NT.

“Frans’ dedication to providing high quality services to his customers sets an impressive standard, and we’re proud to recognise his efforts,” QBE Australia Pacific MD Business Elliot Hill said.

Other finalists were Grace Insurance WA State Manager Aimee Henderson and Imperium Insurance and Financial Solutions Account Director Tanushree Arora-Sopori.

Mr Purslowe will now compete for the national 2023 Vero sponsored Young Broker of the Year award with NSW winner Network Insurance Group Account Director Joel Morrell, Victoria’s Marsh Principal Corporate Olivia Hancock and two other regional winners, to be named this week.

"Justin has forged an impressive career at such a young age, becoming a director in 2020. He is a talented broker and has already built a reputation for high standards,” Vero State Distribution Manager WA Shane Butcher said.

Other finalists were South Coast Insurance Brokers WA Broking Operations Manager Anastasia Hawkins and Platinum Tiger Insurance Brokers Director Dylan Panizza.

NIBA CEO Philip Kewin acknowledged all the finalists and the work they do for their clients and the community.

“Every year, these awards give us an opportunity to recognise standout talent who live by and embody the values of professionalism that make our industry proud,” he said.
