NIBA finetunes program to focus on business woes

A rapidly changing business and insurance environment has prompted the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) to “fine-tune” parts of the program for its upcoming national convention.

NIBA CEO Dallas Booth says he wants the convention, which begins on September 17 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, to provide brokers with the best possible guidance and information on what’s happening in Australian business.

“It’s become obvious to me that insurance has changed a great deal over the past three months,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “It’s a very different world that brokers face now, and we want the program to reflect that.

“We will take some time to talk about who brokers’ clients are and how brokers can help them through a difficult period.”

Mr Booth says the economic situation in the US and Europe “has to have implications for brokers in Australia. The way things are going some clients won’t be in business in 12 months.

“The convention provides the best possible forum for us to discuss these developments, and we’re fine-tuning the program to make this possible.”

He says the convention committee has added a new offer to encourage people studying with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and NIBA College to attend the convention on September 19 and 20.
