NIBA Convention looks to the future

Registrations have opened for the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) annual convention, to be held in Hobart in September for the first time.

President Tim Wedlock says the theme chosen for the convention – Shaping the Future – reflects the challenges of technological change such as insurtech and fintech.

“It is up to each and every insurance broker to understand the developments, work through the challenges and find the best way to shape your approach to your clients, your business and your community,” he says.

“Everyone will be affected by the challenges before the industry at the present time.”

Mr Wedlock says the program, which is still being finalised, will include practical tools for attendees, whether they are account managers, principals or young professionals.

Information on the Hayne royal commission and likely regulatory proposals that may affect brokers will also be discussed.

The conference, at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on September 4-5, includes presentations for the broker of the year, young professional broker of the year and NIBA general insurer of the year.
