New Zealand Underwriting Agencies Council will hold an expo in Christchurch on May 23 at the Rydges Latimer hotel.

The council says the event’s theme is Challenging Markets and Innovative Solutions, similar to last year’s expo in the city.

“We expect this theme will continue to be relevant for years to come,” it says. It adds the current environment stems from “a series of global and local events, which have placed pressure on insurer capacity to accept risk and provide the security our customers expect and need. Recent increases in premiums are attracting a lot of attention, which our broker partners have to manage.”

The council says the event is an opportunity for its members and supply partners to showcase their offerings to brokers.

“We believe this will add value and encourage the expansion of underwriting agencies … the real value to be gained from this expo will be the networking opportunities with all attendees.”
