New young board for AFA

The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) has elected Victorian Brad Fox as its new President.

Mr Fox is currently Chairman of the AFA’s young advisers group GenXt and runs his own practice Foxes Wealth.

Other new AFA directors are National Deputy President Adam Smith (WA) and Michael Nowak, who becomes Queensland Director.

Also elected were Kevin Richardson (Tasmania), David Sutherland (SA) and Kenn Williams (WA).

AFA Treasurer Dennis Bateman, Esther Althaus (Victoria), Marc Bineman (NSW) and CEO Richard Klipin were all re-elected.

Mr Fox says the previous board and President Jim Taggart has “worked enormously hard and Jim has been a dedicated and passionate president”.

The financial services industry is facing massive changes during the next 18 months, Mr Fox says.

“If advisers want a say in how the future will look, they need to throw their support behind the AFA,” he said.

“If we were told by Joe Hockey that the only voice we have is our own, then we have to have bigger, louder voices.

“We will win the battle for the hearts and minds of consumers but only if we are prepared to fight that battle.”
