New life designation from AFA

The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) plans to introduce a new life insurance qualification called Chartered Life Practitioner (ChLP).

AFA Education Chairman Adam Smith says advisers with the necessary life insurance experience can obtain the qualification.

“We want to get people on the education train,” he told delegates at the annual conference on the Gold Coast last week.

“Advisers can now progress to a Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) and go even further to obtain their Masters of Financial Planning.”

The AFA has formed a strategic partnership with the Asia Pacific Financial Services Association as an authorised education provider.

“Education has to be at the core of building consumer confidence in the advisory profession,” Mr Smith said.
