MLC on the prowl for new advisers
MLC has launched an adviser recruitment campaign aimed at financial services professionals gaining their RG146 qualifications.
The Pathway to Advice Excellence program is a four-day course that includes sessions on building client relationships as well as insurance topics.
An MLC spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au the program “discusses the value of insurance and the importance of advisers discussing insurance needs with their clients”.
Established financial advisers will also talk about their businesses and what it takes to be successful.
MLC GM Business Development Peter Greenaway says the company’s Advice Business School teaches existing advisers how to set up their own businesses.
“But we have been increasingly approached by professionals seeking a program teaching them how to start out as a financial planner,” he said.
“The planned introduction of a fiduciary duty and the removal of commissions are acting as a catalyst to attract new talent to our industry.”
Mr Greenaway says MLC is receiving enquiries from lawyers, bankers and asset managers who are seeking a career change.
“This program has been designed with these people in mind,” he said.
“There was no course to help people take those first practical steps to become a financial planner.”
The program will be run in Melbourne and Sydney.
