Milliner named ICA President
Suncorp Head of Personal Insurance Mark Milliner has been appointed President of the Insurance Council of Australia for the next two years.
Mr Milliner moves up from deputy president, a role he took in September last year after the departure of former QBE Australia Asia Pacific CEO Vince McLenaghan.
His deputy – and presumed successor – will be IAG Direct Insurance CEO Andy Cornish, who has been on the board less than a year.
Mr Milliner told insuranceNEWS.com.au he will closely monitor and influence the policy issues affecting the day-to-day operations of insurers.
“I also believe it is important to take a strong lead on improving the industry’s reputation, instilling an improved level of faith in the industry by customers, stakeholders and shareholders.
“Most importantly I am passionate about long-term strategic risks and issues that will affect the profitability of the Australian insurance industry. We have a real opportunity now to be an industry that leads the world in innovation and best practice administration.”
Outgoing president Rob Scott has welcomed the appointment of Mr Milliner, who joined the board three years ago.
“I am delighted he is taking the reins at a crucial time for the Insurance Council and its members,” Mr Scott said.
