MGA backs young entrepreneur program
Adelaide-based MGA Insurance Brokers has sponsored a program encouraging young people to consider entrepreneurial careers.
The 1625 scheme in SA helps youths make their first steps into the business world.
“We decided to become founding supporters, and I think it will be a long-term commitment for us and for them,” MGA MD Paul George told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“It’s a new venture that kicked off this year. We and four other local businesses have got behind it as far as funding is concerned, and it’s off to a pretty good start.
“We did it for few reasons. One is we thought, as a sponsor, we might possibly get to some young entrepreneurs through it.”
Project founder Graham Wakeling says the aim is to get people aged 16-25 into jobs through networking and information sharing. The scheme features a website that provides resources and case studies across a range of industries.
Mr George says he wants insurance broking included as a career option.
