Meridian continues ‘recruitment spree’ with new appointments

Meridian Lawyers has announced three new appointments for its national insurance team as part of a spate of hires in recent months.

The law firm says its latest “recruitment spree” will see experienced insurance litigators Benjamin Karalus, Sally Morshead, and Monique Purcell join its operations.

Mr Karalus joins Meridian in a principal role, where he will head the firm’s newly established national Recoveries group.

He has previously served at McCabe Lawyers and TurksLegal and is currently a member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance’s Faculty Advisory Board for general insurance.

Ms Morshead joins the firm as a consultant, specialising in indemnity cases in property, professional indemnity and general liability sectors.

Ms Purcell has been appointed as the company’s inaugural Client Relationships and Strategy Specialist, where she will focus on approaches to client management.

Meridian MD Paul Baker praised the new hires for their “stellar track records” and says the latest recruitment represents “an exciting time for our business”.

“Our growth plans for our national insurance practice are being realised, and our insurance capabilities have expanded with the addition of CTP expertise to our business recently and now with the addition of a dedicated national Recoveries practice,” Mr Baker said.

Meridian says it has added 30 members to its team in recent months and has more than 180 staff across its national operations.
