Mathew Pain’s Sydney service to be livestreamed tomorrow

A funeral service for Bellrock claims specialist Mathew Pain will be held in Sydney tomorrow, and will be livestreamed and recorded for those unable to attend in person.

Insurance community tributes have flowed in for Sydney-based Mr Pain, who died last week aged 50 from cancer and had worked at international brokers and insurers for 30 years.

“We have been overwhelmed with messages from across the globe. So many great memories speaking to the character of the great man and solidifying why Mathew will remain part of us all,” Bellrock said.

"We sincerely appreciate all the messages, support and well-wishes that have helped to ease the sorrow that we are each experiencing in this very difficult time.”

Sparke Helmore Consultant Lindsay Joyce says he met Mr Pain 25 years ago.

"You just struck me as a super intelligent insurance claims person who picked up issues I had not thought of, so I learnt from you. We then adjourned to discuss the claim, the market, the day. You loved life and people – you knew your stuff but you also accepted a contrary view.

“Life can be cruel and you have left us at such an early age. You are missed but so, so far from forgotten. Cheers mate.”

Gallagher Chief Broking Officer Crisis Management Steve Dalchow was an old school friend of Mr Pain.

“I’m devastated, Matt was the life and soul of the party, always a gentleman. We spent numerous evenings saying and doing silly things over a beer or two. Will raise a glass to you sir and remember the good times, may you forever rest in peace,” he said.

The service will be held tomorrow at 10:15am at Palm Chapel, Macquarie Park Cemetery & Crematorium, followed by drinks at the Sporting Globe, King Street Wharf from 12pm.
