Marsh takes over AFL partnership

Marsh & McLennan will take over as official risk partner of the Australian Football League (AFL) after the company acquired broker JLT.

JLT’s relationship with the AFL began in 2004, and Marsh says it will continue long into the future after it agreed to the role of naming rights partner of next year’s Community Series.

The fixture for the 2020 Marsh Community Series, which hosts matches around the country over 19 days, was announced last week, as were the NAB AFL Women’s fixtures and the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership season fixtures.

The Community Series opening match will see St Kilda play Hawthorn at RSEA Park in Moorabbin, Victoria, on February 20. Matches played at new venues include Whyalla, SA, and Lathlain, WA, while regional venues in Wagga Wagga in NSW and Wangaratta, Colac and Morwell in Victorias will again host matches.

“Hosting a Marsh match leaves legacy facilities in place for local clubs and councils,” Marsh Head of Risk Management Damian Schinck said. “This investment goes beyond the game itself, with any infrastructure providing a home for a community’s biggest moments, on and off the field.”

He says Marsh uses data and tools to constantly anticipate and mitigate evolving risk in the AFL, creating a pathway to a safer game for all.

All games in the Marsh Community Series will be broadcast live.
