Marsh puts execs to test to help homeless

Marsh raised more than $20,000 for the St Vincent de Paul Society at its CEO Sleepout Trivia Night, held last week in Sydney.

About 190 executives from Marsh, QBE, Allianz, Zurich, XL Catlin, Swiss Re, AIG, Chubb and CGU and attended the event.

Marsh CEO and Vinnies ambassador Scott Leney says the evening helped raise funds and awareness for the growing problem of homelessness.

“One in every 200 Australians is homeless,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “It’s an incredible statistic when you think about it.”

The trivia night was a lead-up to Vinnies’ national fundraiser, the CEO Sleepout on June 23, when Mr Leney will join 300 CEOs from NSW sleeping rough for one night.

Vinnies’ Head of Fundraising Yolanda Saiz told insuranceNEWS.com.au support from CEOs such as Mr Leney is crucial.

“Scott is an ambassador of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout and therefore plays a key part in not only fundraising for Vinnies’ homeless services but also spreading the word among the insurance industry and his colleagues,” she said.

“Currently in Australia there are more than 105,000 people experiencing homelessness. Many of these are women and children.”
