Lloyd’s keeps up to date on Facebook
Lloyd’s has updated its Facebook page by adding Timeline, the social networking site’s new profile feature.
Timeline is designed to share users’ life events through photos and personal milestones. Lloyd’s launched its Facebook page in September to educate people about insurance and the Lloyd’s market, and to encourage younger people to consider a career in the sector.
Initially, the timeline feature only went back to 1800, well after Lloyd’s was founded. However along with others, Lloyd’s successfully petitioned the site to extend timelines to begin in 1000 AD.
The Lloyd’s timeline includes global events such as the 2001 US terrorist attacks as well as its own inception as Edward Lloyd’s coffee house in 1688.
Some of the more bizarre risks that Lloyd’s has covered over the years are also featured, including World War II pin-up Betty Grable’s legs and the taste buds of Costa Coffee taster Gennaro Pelliccia.
