Lawyers to host Asia-Pacific insurance conference

Insurance law groups have established a new Asia-Pacific conference, starting with an event in Singapore next year.

The Asia-Pacific Insurance Conference (APIC) was announced at the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) national forum in Adelaide this month.

APIC Chairman David Lee says the event aims to draw delegates and speakers from a broad range of industries and disciplines directly involved in the Asian insurance market.

“The insurance context of this conference will give clear, legal, regulatory and operational insights to future pathways for all industry participants,” he said.

“We expect professions [including] underwriters, claims handlers, actuaries, risk engineers, loss adjusters, brokers, lawyers and reinsurers to attend.”

APIC is supported by AILA, the New Zealand Insurance Law Association, the Hong Kong Insurance Law Association, the US-based Federation of Defence and Corporate Counsel and the Insurance Law Association of Singapore.

The conference will be at the Raffles City Convention Centre from October 18-20.

Speakers and an agenda will be announced in the next few months.
