Lavin takes helm at AICLA

McLarens Young International director Ian Lavin is the new President of the Australasian Institute of Charted Loss Adjusters (AICLA).

Mr Lavin takes over the two-year posting from Ian McWalter. A loss adjuster for 20 years, he has been involved with AICLA at committee level for seven years.

He says he aims to continue the “educational thrust” of the institute while embarking on a membership drive in Asia.

“I’m keen to put something back into the profession,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “Moving forward I thought I could contribute to the role.”

AICLA Secretary Tony Libke says Mr Lavin is taking over at an exciting time for the institute.

“We’ve seen a 5% increase in membership, reversing a five-year trend,” he said.

“We’ve also seen a strong uptake of examinations by loss adjusters – it’s been a record year,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “I see these trends continuing.”

The full incoming board of the AICLA is: Deputy President Grahame Smith; Executive Member Gary Sewell; Education Director Michael Davies; International Development Director Jaye Kumar and Secretary/Treasurer Tony Libke.
