Kennedys promotes liability partner in Melbourne
Law firm Kennedys has promoted liability claims specialist Emily Unger to its Australian partnership.
Melbourne-based Ms Unger represents leading Australian and international insurers and acts on behalf of schools, hospitals, manufacturers, cleaning companies and host employers. Her experience spans common law worker claims, statutory recoveries, public liability and property damage claims.
Kennedys has seen significant growth in Australia including the largest ever round of partner promotions a year ago, and the opening of its fourth office in Brisbane in July.
“Emily is highly respected in her field and a trusted adviser to her clients. I am delighted to welcome her to the partnership where I know she will continue to thrive,” local managing partner Matt Andrews said.
A founding member of Kennedys Melbourne office since joining the firm in 2017 as senior associate, she has held the role of special counsel since September 2020, working alongside national practice leader Michael Kavanagh.
Ms Unger says her focus will be on helping clients manage claims in a cost-effective manner while ensuring the best possible outcome.
"I am particularly excited about showing how our Kennedys IQ technology platform can help them find innovative solutions to their legal problems,” she said.
Kennedys has appointed 20 new partners this year, taking the firm’s total to 316 worldwide. In Australia, women make up 60% of a 20-strong partnership.
