Kaplan unveils latest broking, insurance diplomas

Financial services education provider Kaplan Professional has introduced a diploma of insurance broking and diploma of general insurance for students aspiring to leadership and specialist technical roles.

The flexible web courses feature online coaches, recorded lectures, webinars and hard-copy notes.

CEO Brian Knight told insuranceNEWS.com.au Kaplan has established a new course every few months since entering the insurance space two years ago.

“We have received tremendous feedback from our clients, who were very keen for us to add to our suite,” he said.

Last week Kaplan announced it has acquired Sydney-based regtech start-up Red Marker, whose artificial intelligence engine is expected to revolutionise education by allowing intermediaries to remediate problems as they arise.

“We think the future of learning isn’t long courses,” Mr Knight said. “We think it’s about direct learning on the job in real time as people need to know.”

He says peer learning has evolved into using platforms such as Google and YouTube, and insurers have been crying out for more tailored solutions to their education needs.

Kaplan liaised with insurers to design the online diplomas.

“Consulting the industry and our clients at all stages of development has allowed us to focus on what the industry needs from an education perspective, as it continues to evolve,” Mr Knight said.

He says there is a void to fill after the National Insurance Brokers Association closed its education arm last year and shifted the role to the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

“We have taken a new approach to what is already out there by offering a fresh and modern perspective that is quality and value for money,” he said.

Kaplan is the biggest supplier of financial planning education and offers courses in industries from mortgage broking to real estate.
