JMD Ross announces board addition as MD retires

JMD Ross Insurance Brokers MD Tim Ross has retired after serving at the Sydney-based broker for 34 years.

Executive Director John Davaine is now MD, and Bhavesh Radiya has joined the board.

Mr Ross, who specialised in tourism and travel insurance broking, says when he joined the business, then JMD Insurances, in 1988 “the culture matched my thoughts on how an insurance brokerage should operate and that has never changed”.

“That culture is a key reason why JMD Ross has been so successful,” he said.

Mr Ross will focus on his personal interests, which include travelling, playing golf and tennis, photography, following rugby union, and cultivating his large collection of vintage fountain pens.

Mr Radiya was previously an assistant insurance broker at JMD Ross for five years before moving to Mega Capital (now Finstead Risk Solutions) in 2010. He returned to JMD Ross in 2019 as a corporate authorised representative.

CEO John G Duncan paid tribute to Mr Ross’s “exceptional career”.

“Tim is highly respected in the insurance industry and by his many long-term clients,” he said.

Mr Duncan also welcomed Mr Radiya to the board.

“His focus is always what’s best for the client. He’s trusted, transparent and engages well with clients. He has agile thought processes to find solutions for complex placements.”
