Insurers turn to temporary recruits for fire season: Hays

Recruiter Hays forecasts strong demand for insurance professionals, including temporary staff, in the first three months of this year.

Its quarterly report on the industry identifies employment “hot spots” for general insurance claims consultants and loss adjusters.

“Large insurers are planning for events that may occur during Australia’s bushfire season,” Hays says.

“This is creating high demand for immediately available claims consultants who are looking for temporary roles. We’re also seeing a need for claims staff in the loss adjusting area on a temporary basis, to support the influx of claims.”

Hays expects experience within motor, home or commercial lines will be highly regarded by insurers.

Demand is strong for temporary claims and underwriter positions.

“However, brokers or account executives who can generate revenue are more likely to be offered permanent opportunities,” Hays says.
