Suncorp is holding virtual celebrations this week in honour of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

Employees who choose to donate to Minus18 – the core organisers of IDAHOBIT in Australia – will have their donations matched through Suncorp’s Brighter Futures program.

Suncorp staff will also show their support virtually by dressing in rainbow colours, decorating their home offices and sharing photos and videos with each other.

Claims specialist Peter Moo is heading up events for Amplify, Suncorp’s LGBTIQ+ Employee Resource Group.

“It’s a chance to celebrate what we’ve already achieved – like marriage equality, which I never would have dreamed would be possible – but also to highlight the discrimination that does still exist, especially for my transgender friends,” Adelaide-based Mr Moo said.

Mr Moo has been at Suncorp eight years, and says Suncorp doesn’t discriminate and has “only been interested that I was enthusiastic and eager to learn”.
