ICA’s Karl Sullivan announces exit

The Insurance Council of Australia’s (ICA) Head of Risk and Operations Karl Sullivan has announced his departure.

Mr Sullivan joined ICA in 2006 as GM Risk, after previously having worked in senior risk roles with Qantas and the Australian Defence Force.

He told insuranceNEWS.com.au today he had spent “a marvellous 14 years in a dream job”.

“It’s a fascinating industry and I’ll probably be sticking around,” he said.

An ICA spokesman confirmed Mr Sullivan’s departure “after an accomplished 14 years”.

“Head of Strategy Kylie Macfarlane is managing the Risk and Operations directorate while a review of member requirements takes place,” the spokesman said.

Mr Sullivan first announced the news on LinkedIn last week.

“Like many, I fell into insurance, and then quickly fell in love with it,” he wrote. “I have been lucky to have worked with industry leaders and consequently I can say with confidence that the industry is deeply aware of the critical role it plays, and that it keeps faith with that purpose.”

Neither Mr Sullivan nor ICA gave a reason for his exit.
