ICA, Suncorp, Sedgwick execs to feature at AICLA Claims Convention

The Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) has revealed details of the speakers to appear at this year’s Claims Convention, to be held on September 29 in Sydney.

Panel members will include Insurance Council of Australia CEO Andrew Hall, Sedgwick Senior Manager, Major Event Response Clare Cordingly, Suncorp Group General Counsel Belinda Speirs and Construct Services Executive Manager Strategic Clients Darren Trott.

They will look in depth at the recent floods in Queensland and NSW, and how more resilience is needed to mitigate future flood losses, making up a "Resilience – Who Plays a Role?” panel to discuss the pivot to technology, social challenges and scarcity of materials and labour.

The event, a collaboration between AICLA and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel.

The overall theme is New Thinking for the Claims Landscape: Virtual assessing, forensic investigation, regulation changes, technology advances and climate change mitigation action.

The full day conference will be followed by a three-hour cocktail networking function. This year marks the 15th Claims Convention and the first face-to-face convention since covid.

AICLA expects more than 250 attendees and says delegates will benefit from face-to-face networking with professionals from across the claims industry, including managers, brokers, reinsurers, loss adjusters, professional consultants, insurance lawyers, suppliers and service providers.

Planned topics include cyber claims from a legal viewpoint, advances in loss adjusting using virtual technology, forensic investigation case study, fraud, the new regulatory environment in claims, Australian Financial Services Licensing, customer experience and outcomes in claim, and social media.

There will also be an overview of the current insurance talent market, and a motivational presentation on the importance of resilience and tenacity.

Early bird registration ends August 29 and can be found here.
