ICA releases guidance for Melbourne’s stage four restrictions

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has released guidance for the industry on what activities are permitted during the current stage four lockdown in Melbourne.

ICA says the guidance reflects its interpretation of the Victorian Government’s rules and is based on information provided by the state’s Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.

It warns significant penalties apply if the rules are breached and has urged members to independently consider the relevant regulations and their relevance.

On the list of permitted insurance activities are processing and payment of both personal and business claims to existing customers, the guidance says.

Assessors undertaking work for safety or emergency reasons as well as urgent and emergency repairs and maintenance works to residential and commercial properties are also permitted.
