ICA chief remains on global federation board
Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) CEO Rob Whelan will serve another two years as a membership executive with the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA).
His re-appointment was announced at last week’s general assembly in Asuncion, Paraguay, where the executive committee was elected.
“GFIA has a close working relationship with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, which plays a substantial role in shaping international and domestic regulatory environments,” ICA says.
“Mr Whelan’s presence on the GFIA executive committee ensures the interests of Australian insurers continue to be heard in these key international forums.”
Mr Whelan joined the executive board in 2014. American Council of Life Insurers CEO Dirk Kempthorne is the President.
ICA is a founding member of GFIA, a non-profit body established in 2012. Its 41 member associations represent insurers that account for 87% of global premium.
