IBANZ shakes up insurance courses

The Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ) will soon relaunch its college with a new brand and a strategy to reach a wider range of insurance professionals.

The Professional IQ College will offer a new Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services, with an insurance stream.

IBANZ CEO Gary Young told insuranceNEWS.com.au the previous name – IBANZ College – gave the impression it catered to brokers only.

He says the life insurance industry, financial planners and mortgage brokers are also looking for professional education, “and their associations are keen to work with us”.

All IBANZ College courses have been updated.

Mr Young says insurance brokers can choose structured training for support personnel, junior and senior brokers, or training courses tailored for them and their employees.

The college plans to offer the new certificate with insurance and banking streams soon, while the New Zealand Qualifications Authority may allow a level 5 certificate to be delivered in the second half of the year.
