Hundreds return to NIBA Convention’s ‘spiritual home’

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) Convention is under way on the Gold Coast, with organisers estimating attendance at 750.

A welcome event took place last night on The Lawn at The Star Gold Coast, and today NIBA President Gary Okely launched the conference program under the theme “Think Differently”. It is NIBA’s first full convention since 2019 and Mr Okely says the location is the event’s “spiritual home”.

“It is fantastic to see our community coming together again,” he said.

Mr Okely says a new NIBA strategic plan was signed off yesterday, and further details will be given during the convention. He highlighted the importance of engaging with governments on natural disaster mitigation, NIBA’s new code, and attracting new talent into the industry.

NIBA also announced the winners of two awards this morning.

Integrite Insurance MD Paula Cruden won the Community Excellence Award, while North Queensland Insurance Brokers claims manager Charmaine Field won the Claims Broker of the Year Award.

The event concludes with a gala dinner tomorrow night.
