Head of 2022 flood probe to address Claims Convention

Flood inquiry chairman Daniel Mulino and complaints authority lead ombudsman Emma Curtis will be among the speakers at this year’s Claims Convention.

Topics on the agenda include the federal parliamentary flood probe, lithium batteries and fire risk, oil contamination and environmental claims, climate change and marine issues, artificial intelligence in claims settlements, and arson.

Expert speakers also include Insurance Council of Australia COO for climate, operations and strategy Kylie Macfarlane, Sedgwick forensic accounting services director Jillian Pancott, and senior executives from Charles Taylor, Crawford & Company, NTI and Axa XL.

“Quality claims handling continues to be the focus of legislators, regulators and all industry participants,” Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance CEO Katrina Shanks said. “The attendance at this conference reflects the seriousness that the sector takes to continually raise industry standards and strive for good customer outcomes.”

The convention is a collaboration between the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters and ANZIIF. This year’s theme is “claims under the microscope – driving better outcomes”.

The event will be held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on September 26. Registration and more details are available here.
