HDI-Gerling has appointed former Chubb Insurance underwriter Joel Mitchell as its Marine Underwriting Manager, Northern Region, based in Sydney.

Before Chubb, Mr Mitchell worked at QBE Marine and Associated Marine – now Zurich.

HDI-Gerling Australasian MD Stefan Feldmann says the company now has “all hands on deck” to seize opportunities in the region’s marine markets.

“Because delivering professional and comprehensive services for risks is essential, I am convinced our marine line-up and offering will continue to outperform the expectations of our brokers and clients in the region and beyond,” he said.

Kai Brueggemann heads the marine team, with offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

Other staff include Melbourne-based Tom Hughes as Underwriting Manager Southern Region and the Sydney team consisting of Ruth Barr as Marine Underwriter, Mark Barn as Marine Claims Manager and Marine Risk Engineering/Loss Prevention Specialist Ian McCarry.
