HDI-Gerling has expanded its Australasian team with the appointment of Ruth Barr as a marine specialist and Ian Cook McCarry as Marine Risk Engineer.

“They bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to our company and will enhance our future strategy in the region,” Marine Underwriting Manager Australasia Dimitry Zilberud said.

Ms Barr has more than 30 years’ marine insurance experience, including 15 years at Associated Marine Insurers.

Captain Cook McCarry, a Class 1 master mariner, most recently worked at Ace Insurance, where he was the marine risk manager for more than 10 years.

He has also held senior roles at BHP, Sydney Ferries and Patrick Stevedoring.
