Gold Seal revamps broking diploma for ‘real-life’ focus

Gold Seal has released its suite of revamped broker education courses following the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s new FNS15 guidelines.

The training provider’s MD Sheila Baker says the courses have been “reviewed and updated from the ground up” to meet FNS15 requirements and provide “real-life” value to brokers.

“We have also revamped our online delivery platform to deliver an improved learning experience.

“The new Diploma of Insurance Broking has been streamlined [and although] the number of competencies covered has been reduced from 13 to 10, the content has been updated and rationalised.

“As always our education works with actual current broking practice, not just to the competencies required.”

Ms Baker has taken an increasingly prominent role in calling for a revamp of broker education to place a greater focus on industry-relevant skills and competencies.

She recently joined an industry-based “rebel committee” that is calling for an overhaul of the official qualifications framework.

“We can’t stand by and do nothing when we believe there are serious shortcomings in broker education,” Ms Baker told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
