Gallagher partners with World Rugby

World Rugby has announced a partnership with Gallagher that will see the brokerage named an Official Partner for Women’s Rugby and the Rugby World Cup in 2025.

The agreement sees Gallagher named an Official Partner of the new three-tiered women’s rugby competition launching later this year titled Rugby WXV 2023 & 2024.

World Rugby has also named the brokerage as a founding partner for the High Performance Academy, a newly formed leadership and development program for female coaches and staff that it says will leave a “lasting impact on the women’s game”.

Gallagher Australia CEO Sarah Lyons says the partnership provides an opportunity to support a global women’s rugby competition, collaborate on high performance and to be the official insurance broker for World Rugby.

“With interest and development in women’s sport booming, I’m proud Gallagher can play a role through this partnership,” she said.

“It aligns well with our own commitments to inclusion and diversity.

“This global partnership comes at an important time for the women’s game in Australia with the Prime Minister’s announcement of funding and Rugby Australia’s push to have a fully professional squad by 2025 linked to the organisation’s investment in high performance programmes at Super W Clubs.

“2023 is a landmark year for the Wallaroos as the team aims to be part of the inaugural WXV tournament in September and as its insurance broker partner Gallagher will be supporting that ambition all the way.”

World Rugby Chief of Women’s Rugby Sally Horrox praised Gallagher for the partnership, saying that the firm “has shown a real commitment to supporting the women’s game”.

“The partnership sees them backing three of our most important programs; WXV, World Rugby’s exciting new three-tiered annual tournament, RWC 2025 and what will now be known as the Gallagher High Performance Academy,” Ms Horrox said.

“Gallagher cares deeply about rugby and is committed to increasing the opportunity for women both on and off the field.”
