FPA plans shadow shopper workshops

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) will run national best practice workshops looking at issues raised in the latest shadow shopper report.

The open industry workshops are being run with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Financial Ombudsman Service.

FPA CEO Mark Rantall says the findings show there are still areas for improvement.

“It is pivotal we continue to focus on providing professional development initiatives, like workshops, to our own members and all other stakeholders in the financial planning profession,” he said.

“The FPA believes sound financial advice is integral to ensuring the financial wellbeing of Australians.”

Mr Rantall says the workshops present a rare opportunity to hear insights on the report from the regulator and the ombudsman at the same time.

“These workshops are in line with our strategic efforts to raise the bar in the financial planning industry for the benefit of all consumers,” he said.

The workshops will be in Brisbane (May 1), Sydney (May 8), Melbourne (May 9), Perth (May 10), Adelaide (May 11) and Hobart (May16) with attendees earning three CPD points.
