Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has hired Steve Fama as Underwriting Manager Property, the company has confirmed to insuranceNEWS.com.au.

Mr Fama started the job last month and is based in Melbourne.

He was previously Vero property underwriting manager southern region – global and risk managed, a role he held for more than four years.

Mr Fama has also worked for IAG companies CGU and NZI Insurance.

BHSI’s other recent hires include Sydney-based Senior Underwriter Marine Niall O’Connell, Melbourne-based Senior Risk Engineer Ari Bitzilis and Brisbane-based Senior Underwriter Mark O’Reilly.
