Former Broncos MD to chair Austbrokers Comsure
Brisbane-based Austbrokers Comsure has named former Brisbane Broncos Rugby League Football Club MD Bruno Cullen as Chairman.
He will start on November 1, become the first to take up the role since Austbrokers Comsure was formed last February in a three-way merger of Queensland brokerages Comsure, Bestmark and Citycover.
Mr Cullen was MD of the Broncos from 2003 to 2011 and chairman of Townsville-based Queensland Country Bank from 2006 until last April.
He was also a director of private health insurer Queensland Country Health for 20 years.
“[Mr Cullen] has been heavily involved in the merger of three credit unions and then the conversion of a credit union into the member-owned Queensland Country Bank,” Austbrokers Comsure MD Ian Garbutt said.
“[His] experience and lessons learned during those processes are very relevant for our journey.”
Austbrokers Comsure is AUB’s largest Queensland brokerage after the group acquired Steadfast Network member Bestmark Insurance Brokers in February and merged the firm with majority-owned businesses Comsure and Citycover.
